New on the website is our memorial album to our agility and tracking dogs who have gone to the Rainbow Bridge.   The album goes to every TRACS event, but now it can also be seen in the “About Us” section of the website.   Here’s a direct link for anyone who wants to take a look. https://www.agiltracs.org/about-us/pet-memorials/

I know there are lots of our dogs who have not had pages done and hopefully this will inspire people to get their dogs included.

If you’d like to have your dog included, that information is also on the website.   Go into the members area and click on “agil memories”.   Here’s the direct link to that:  https://www.agiltracs.org/members-area/agil-memories/     There you’ll find the available backgrounds to choose from and the directions on what I need from you to do the pages.   I’d love to see more memorial pages for our wonderful dogs.

TRACS donates to CASF

TRACS President Susan Cochran (right) and CASF’s Dr. Cindi Delany (left)

Two Rivers Agility Club of Sacramento recently donated $2,500.00 to a local animal rescue organization “California Animal Shelter Friends Inc.” This shelter is owned and operated by one of our area’s agility competitors and veterinarian. Dr. Cindi Delany is the founder and heart behind this rescue organization. She currently competes in agility with two rescue Border Collies which she adopted through CASF.

As a non-profit organization, TRACS is very dedicated to giving back to our community and those in need. Every year we makes donations to worthy causes in hopes to change the lives of less fortunate animals and/or animals in need. We are delighted to have been able to make a difference in CASF through our donation.

TRACS pulled off another wonderful USDAA agility trial this past weekend. Even though the temperatures soared a nice breeze billowed through the field and the trial went on without a hitch. This was our first trial for this June date. I do believe it is a keeper! I would like to thank everyone who came out and joined in making this trial super fun for all the exhibitors. TRACS really does put on the best trials ever! A special thanks to all the key workers who were responsible for all the variety of duties and details of the trial and who all did such a spectacular job. Everyone was great. Also a special thanks for those who just came out and worked – class after class or for set up or tear down. Your help was so much appreciated. If you were not able to join us this past weekend, I hope you will consider joining us for our next USDAA trial in September!

So until September, I hope to see you around some trials!

Trial Chair

At our Memorial Weekend Trial we had two dogs that ran clean in both the ISC Standard and ISC JWW runs.  Ashley Deacon and Dashie won the 16 in. class and Jim Aitken and Brody won the 26 in. class.  By winning the combined, both Dashie and Brody earned a bye into next year’s AKC World Team tryouts in May 2013.

Mark your calendars for Friday, July 20th, submit your Request for Time Off to your employer (now would be good), and plan to join TRACS & the Sacramento DTC for a day of AKC agility at the State Fair. This is a charity event and all proceeds will be donated to 4 Paws for Vets again this year.

Each exhibitor receives (2) admission tickets to the fair and (1) parking credential [YES – you’re reading this correctly – you get into the fair for FREE!]

If you are looking for opportunities to practice with your dog in distracting environments, you don’t want to miss this one! It’s a run for charity; if you need to step in and help your dog to be successful in this environment, go for it! Yes, you can earn real Qs here, but, realize that your NQs can support your dog AND a great cause.

Join us for a day of Fun, Fair, Food, and when it’s all done, Fatigue!

The entry form is now available for our four day (!) AKC agility trial to be held Memorial Day weekend. That’s Thursday May 25- through Monday, May 28. It will be at the Dixon fairgrounds. Entries close May 10. Mixed breeds welcome!

Also available at this time is the entry for our June USDAA trial. This one’s June 16/17 in Woodland.

The morning dawned cold but quickly warmed up. Tracks were laid and Jan Murphy was there for the draw, and to hear the news that the judges had plotted an alternate VST track and would use it as long as it was not needed to replace a regular track.

Jan and Quick, her border collie, waited at Cosumnes River College for 3 tracks to be run, then moved over to California State, Sacramento University to wait for 3 more dogs to run their tracks. No qualifiers so far.

The time came for them to go to their track, lucky track #7! We all hoped that Sue Larson, tracklayer for the alternate track, had really, really stinky feet that day.

Quick put her nose downat the start and never looked back. It was a pleasure to watch Quick work, taking the first couple of turns out by the Capital Public Radio building.

Her track took her through their courtyard, along a concrete path and then down the middle of an asphalt road.

The track then went back onto really hard packed dirt, but Quick worked the middle of the asphalt, drawn that way because the sprinklers were running on the other side of that road. Quick was then pulled into a big grass area, but eventually she worked her way back out into the parking lot, picked up the track and went strongly to the final glove.

That earned her VST title and a Champion Tracker title as well.

Congratulations to Jan and Quick, the first dog to pass at a TRACS VST test.
