The entry form is now available for our four day (!) AKC agility trial to be held Memorial Day weekend. That’s Thursday May 25- through Monday, May 28. It will be at the Dixon fairgrounds. Entries close May 10. Mixed breeds welcome!

Also available at this time is the entry for our June USDAA trial. This one’s June 16/17 in Woodland.

The morning dawned cold but quickly warmed up. Tracks were laid and Jan Murphy was there for the draw, and to hear the news that the judges had plotted an alternate VST track and would use it as long as it was not needed to replace a regular track.

Jan and Quick, her border collie, waited at Cosumnes River College for 3 tracks to be run, then moved over to California State, Sacramento University to wait for 3 more dogs to run their tracks. No qualifiers so far.

The time came for them to go to their track, lucky track #7! We all hoped that Sue Larson, tracklayer for the alternate track, had really, really stinky feet that day.

Quick put her nose downat the start and never looked back. It was a pleasure to watch Quick work, taking the first couple of turns out by the Capital Public Radio building.

Her track took her through their courtyard, along a concrete path and then down the middle of an asphalt road.

The track then went back onto really hard packed dirt, but Quick worked the middle of the asphalt, drawn that way because the sprinklers were running on the other side of that road. Quick was then pulled into a big grass area, but eventually she worked her way back out into the parking lot, picked up the track and went strongly to the final glove.

That earned her VST title and a Champion Tracker title as well.

Congratulations to Jan and Quick, the first dog to pass at a TRACS VST test.
